Following the release of his second studio album ‘Lucky Ones’ last month, San Francisco native Luttrell shares the first of two LP remix packages; featuring a pair of fresh reworks from Anjunadeep regular Antic and Argentinian producer Della, and the hotly tipped new kids on the block, Leaving Laurel.

First up, Antic and Della turn in a synth heavy reinterpretation of ‘Synergy 2000’, pairing flickering arpeggios with a hard-hitting drum groove.

Off the back of their recent label debut, Leaving Laurel return with a down-tempo rework of ‘Lucky Ones’. The duo seamlessly blend the original's electronic elements with their characteristic organic instrumentation, layering Luttrell's vocals with soothing piano progressions.

"With Esperanza I wanted to make a solar and optimistic piece, which pulls upwards, which encourages people to stand up, to fight, to see things in a positive way. I see it as a little ember that can make a fire almost go out again. In the intro you can hear the steps of the dancers from the Ballet National de Marseille walking in rhythm and giving an almost military rhythm to the piece, I like the combative energy it gives it. With the crisis we're going through at the moment we hear more than ever that the world will not be the same as it was before. I think so too, and I sincerely hope it will be for a better world. Esperanza is my tribute to the army of saviours, those who are fighting for a better world." Rone

Squarepusher - Detroit People Mover (Official Video)

Official Video for Squarepusher's ‘Detroit People Mover’ directed by Jacob Hurwitz-Goodman.

There had long been an intention to shoot a video for this piece on the Detroit People Mover itself. As production got under way, it was apparent that the typically empty train has a peculiar resonance with the desolation settling on urban areas across the world. Director Jacob Hurwitz-Goodman explores our new-found isolation on a driver-less journey through the city, contrasting it with human contact in images from Detroit’s history produced by an correspondingly autonomous printer.

This bleak urban portrait serves as a drastic contrast to Squarepusher’s last visual representation for ‘Terminal Slam’, which with its bustling street scenes was shot just three months before, including at the busiest crossing in the world in Shibuya. These varied aesthetics not only reflect the sudden change of conditions but two very different sound worlds that co-exist within this project.

“I like the way both of these videos articulate salient points about our urban environments - in ‘Terminal Slam’ about the prevalence of advertising and possibilities for its subversion, and here regarding our zombie cities that despite the lack of everyday human contact continue marching on. The track itself is part of a series begun in 1993 inspired by the music of Detroit.” – Squarepusher
