LAAX OPEN 2020 - Best of Slopestyle

The weather played along another day putting smiles on all faces while
witnessing today’s Snowboard action in the innovative course for the
highly anticipated Slopestyle finals in LAAX. Julia Marino (USA) &
Sebastien Toutant (CAN) are the proud first LAAX OPEN winners of the new
decade walking home with a prize purse of CHF 25.000 each. In the
women’s field Julia Marino from the US set the bar high with an
incredible first run including a Backside 900 Melon, a Cab Double
Underflip Mute and a Frontside 720 Mute on the kicker line which earned
her 81,30 points. None of the other finalists was able to get close to
her score. It’s Julia’s first LAAX OPEN win “It was the best week of my
life. The weather was perfect, the course just awesome and the level of
riding was great.” Reira Iwabuchi from Japan and Katie Ormerod from the
UK complete the podium on 2nd and 3rd. Noteworthy is young German rider
Annika Morgan who narrowly missed out on a podium spot ending up 4th. In
the men’s comp young Red Gerard (USA), Slopestyle Olympic Champion
2018, was in the lead for a very long time. But then came Seb Toutant
(CAN), Big Air Olympic Champion 2018. Seb, in the game since many years
and already winner of the Burton European Open Junior Jam in 2008 in
LAAX, threw down an incredible 2nd run with an outstanding Backside 1440
Mute on the last jump and a Frontside 1080 Mute on the least feature
which earned him the highest score of the day kicking off Staale
Sandbech from the podium and pushing Gerard and Justus Henkes into 2nd
and 3rd position. Seb stated: “I have been coming here for so many years
and I’m really proud I finally made it to the top. It is my first
contest in 2020 and it is just amazing to win here in LAAX.”

Koven Release the Next Step to Butterfly Effect

Koven are an eclectic pair and it’s not just their music which has caught the attention of global tastemakers and members of their audience. It’s also the live energy which Katie Koven injects into their DJ sets, whilst bringing her vocal talents into the mix and presenting a package which boasts the ingenuity of both Katie and Max. After debuting ‘Your Pain’ on Monstercat, the esteemed label which is being used as a platform for their sophomore LP ‘Butterfly Effect’, they’re about to reveal a double-sided single again highlighting the host of new music they’ve prepared for 2020. If this next package is anything to go by, it’ll be another climactic year for the duo.

Set to drop before ‘Butterfly Effect’ at Rampage Festival next year, Koven’s second single ‘Give You Up’ and ‘Followers’ underscores two more sides of the repertoire which Max Koven conjures within their studio space. Alongside Katie’s angelic, yet stadium-geared vocals, Max’s production levels are clear to hear throughout ‘Give You Up’ and its flipside ‘Followers’. Whilst ‘Give You Up’ rolls you back into the drum & bass sphere which Koven are renowned for, especially across the festival circuit, ‘Followers’ switches the tempo once again, taking you into the intricate world of Katie’s humanistic tones. Each track is manufactured for their explosive live presence and they’re two more slabs of musicality, as well as reasons why fans should be anticipating ‘Butterfly Effect’.

The word ‘unstoppable’ is often thrown about but when looking at Koven’s ascent over the past twelve months, as well as the music that’s already been unleashed from ‘Butterfly Effect’, it's no hyperbole when used to describe Koven. This is going to continue into 2020 and ‘Give You Up’ and ‘Followers’ are just two more testaments to their success.

Sounds of Surfing - Trailer

February 2019, Nazaré: the musician and electro-music producer Romain de
la Haye-Serafini aka “Molécule” (Ed Banger Records) set himself a new
artistic challenge: to create music that emphasises the power of the
legendary surf spot Nazaré by sourcing sound directly from the natural
phenomenon.

Under the guidance of filmmaker Vincent Kardasik, the LK RTEL team and
the world’s big wave surfing elite including Quiksilver team rider
Othmane Choufani, Molecule literally submerged himself in the ocean and
the in big wave surf culture, learning the codes from those who take on
extraordinary swells, building a bridge and uniting two universes, with
one common denominator: adventure.

Molecule EP and the 26-minute documentary Sounds Of Surfing will be
released on January 17th, 2020.
Stay tuned.
