Since the release of his last long-player, S.P.Y has been digging through the crates - rediscovering his love for all things jungle, hardcore and breakbeat. He began his ‘Dubplate Style’ journey in 2018, paying homage to original jungle culture and kitting out two studios with vintage synths and sequencers to recreate that authentic jungle feel. Kicking things straight into gear is the stripped back stealthy banger ‘After The Rain’ featuring the deep, grizzly tones of legendary MC GQ. Their existence was one removed from our own, separated by a planar shift aeons ago. Their world, so long displaced from its point of origin, seemed a parody to any who gained the ability to briefly peer beyond their veil of ignorance and look within. To their eyes it appeared warped & twisted, broken in ways incomprehensible and utterly alien to the human mind. The visage of those who dwelled within mirrored this otherworldly appearance, their impossibly elongated bodies making a mockery of the human form. To most, such sights were too much to bear, inflicting terror in the minds of the viewer, but for he who had long strode between both worlds such aberrant existences bore forth the comforts of home.
Some had called them visions, other a curse, and still yet more spoke of them as evidence of a demonic possession. None touched on the true nature of his existence however, for none else had ever walked between the planes as he. From his birth, the walker had seen both worlds overlaid upon each other, their realms intermingling and allowing him to step between them as he pleased. In this way he journeyed through his life, striding the boundary between the mundane and what lay beyond. When he spoke of that which he had seen, many brushed it off as the ravings of a madman, one forever lost within an ACID MIRAGE. Himself though, he knew otherwise, and immersed himself in the marvel of this foreign plane.
AGRESSOR BUNX return to EATBRAIN with the follow up to 2018’s DEATH MEADOW EP in the form of the ACID MIRAGE EP, which continues its predecessor’s full scale overdriven sound with equal measure. ACID MIRAGE struts out of the gate with energetic saw stab highs and a gnashing bassline, while the bravado of LIGHTS is carried by its powerful horn melody. NITRO FUNKS brings forth its own supercharged atmosphere which surges impatiently towards its climax, and RAGE VALLEY’s dissonant tones close the EP in a menacing menagerie of seething sonic energy. With ACID MIRAGE, AGRESSOR BUNX once again lead the EATBRAIN charge guided by their particularly devastating vision of drum & bass.
