The Line up was different this year...No DJ Knowledge this time around but, there were three dance areas and over 20 DJ's!!! The waterfront was packed again this year! I began receiving texts early on that the break contest was in full effect and I was running late (as usual) I scurried to get parked and in the door A.S.A.P!
Familiar faces littered the venue! Energy flowing within perpetual flow! What's the difference between break circles in the 80's & 90's to today? Most dancers are entrepreneurs now, equip with business cards in every pocket! I constantly hear people say.. " I had no idea break dance still existed " Really? Is the mainstream that out of touch with reality? It seems so! Mainstream trends are not enough to wake the sleeping giant! In the mean time these dancers there to put in work!Dance floors have transformed into mobs of head nods and fist pumps! Freak shows of fashion and lots of toys! That has always been a part of our culture but not all it is made of. Some of us really enjoy dancing! The art of underground! Big Thanx for big vibes! The 5th Element Dance Crew was out in force. One after another bringing it to the break! Everybody was on point~
