RISING INDIE-ROCK ARTIST MARY MIDDLEFIELD UNVEILS NEW SINGLE “BITE ME” PREMIERED EXCLUSIVELY BY AMY LAMÉ ON BBC 6 MUSIC

London, UK, Wednesday 26 February 2025 – Rising indie-rock artist Mary Middlefield unveils her latest single, "Bite Me," marking a bold evolution in her artistry. The track, which premiered exclusively on BBC 6 Music with Amy Lamé, introduces Middlefield's sharpened songwriting and dynamic sonic approach
Written in May 2024 and recorded in October 2024 at A.K.A Studio in Lausanne, Switzerland, "Bite Me" came together in a whirlwind creative session and emerges as an unapologetic reflection on self-worth, validation, and the emotional turmoil of seeking approval.

Middlefield shares, "I remember going into a session and whipping this up in just one night. It all started with that chord progression and the first line of the song. I love starting with confrontation. I had been reflecting a lot on what making music means to me—how badly I want to be liked and wanted by the people I play for, the people I chase daily, sending them my music—and that connected to so many aspects of my personal life. Whether it’s a job, your partner, or a family member you’re struggling with, I think this song is something a lot of people can relate to.”

Sonically, "Bite Me" co-produced by Middlefield alongside Gwen BuordArnaud Paolini, and Alexis Sudan blends indie-rock grit with the melodic sensibilities of pop, reflecting Middlefield’s continued exploration of genre boundaries.

The single follows the success of Middlefield’s previous releases and builds anticipation for her sophomore album, a deeply introspective record that delves into themes of identity, self-acceptance, and the search for belonging.

With previous acclaim from WonderlandThe Line of Best FitClash, and BBC Introducing, alongside standout performances at Glastonbury FestivalMontreux Jazz Festival, and the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, Middlefield continues to cement herself as a formidable force in the indie music landscape.

"Bite Me" is now available on all streaming platforms.
