Thom Archi releases co(m)ping (Esmerarte) his debut album

The day has finally come, today the British composer and producer residing in Pontevedra, Thom Archi, releases his debut album co(m)ping (Esmerarte, 2024), which is now available on all digital platforms. co(m)ping is a concept album with a Pop - Electronic base guided by dark sounds close to classic Post Punk along with the influence of Hip Hop that was already marked by Thom's first EP, THOMO. A cocktail of different musical genres that true music lovers will delight. This album is a sample of the musical maturity of this almost 24-year-old young man who, influenced by artists such as James Blake, Fred Again or Tyler, The Creator amazes with his compositional capacity and originality. The album was produced by the artist himself together with Iago Lorenzo (Agoraphobia, Furious Monkey House), Iván Blanco and Gonzalo Maceira (Furious Monkey House) and was mastered by Grammy winner Robin Schmidt (Charli XCX, The 1975, Giant Rooks, $oho Bani). co(m)ping is the artist's personal journey through his most personal experiences and the way he has had to face going from childhood to adult life.  Together with a team of luxury producers, the songs went through such delirious production processes as recording sounds on tape and then burning it and from there extracting the final sounds that would remain in the songs. Thom arrives to be crowned in 2024 as one of the great promises of music on the national and international scene for his originality when it comes to making contemporary alternative music that music lovers will know how to savor.

 

The artist has left the following comment about his debut: 
 

“I'm beyond excited to finally release my debut LP, a project that's been about 5 years in the making. I wrote and produced all the songs myself, with incredible mixing and additional production by Iago Lorenzo, Iván Blanco, and Gonzalo Maceira, who brought a whole new dimension to the album through their experimentation with tapes, analogue gear, modular synths, and more. This album is deeply personal, and it's definitely the most authentic music I've ever created — everything I envisioned it to be. It’s a fusion of pop, electronic, hip hop, and emo, and I’m so proud of the final result. I can't wait for everyone to hear these 10 songs that mean so much to me and hopefully like them even half as much as I do. Looking forward to presenting it all live very soon!”

Last year, Thom debuted on the music scene with THOMO, an EP made up of five songs that marked his start and introduction to the world of music. Thom explored his personal, musical and social doubts, expressing his emotions through lyrics and intrepid beats.

It had collaborators candleblower, SETH, SIRA; marinha (singer and guitarist of Furious Monkey House) and 4MB$ DU$T who together managed to give their own spin to the genres of alternative hip-hop, emo rap and grime. This was the appetizer and proof of what the young composer and producer was capable of doing at only 23 years old.

Thom Archi, has already been present at notable festivals such as O Son do Camiño, PortAmérica and Río Verbena.

About Thom Archi Thom archi (Thomas Argibay) is a young artist born in 2000 in England, where he lived until he was 7 years old, when he went to start a new life in O Grove, (Pontevedra). He has an undefined style, although his influences are mainly based on Pop, Electronic and Hip-hop music, to name a few artists he uses as a reference: Twenty One Pilots, George Michael, The Cure and Tyler, The Creator, among many. others. The results obtained with his first EP, THOMO, more than showed the potential of this 23-year-old boy who composes and produces his own music. After some time doing covers and remixes, becoming known as a DJ and producer in clubs, festivals and on social media, Thom finally takes the leap and presents his debut album this September.
