UK drum & bass label Viper Recordings team up with the mighty US media & events giant Bassrush for the fourth year running for Bassrush 4.0, a compilation celebrating the best the genre has to offer on both sides of the Atlantic. Viper have always been a label proud to push the drum & bass sound across the globe, while Bassrush have long been at the forefront of pushing that same sound on their home turf. With a total of ___ exclusive tracks on the way, Viper x Bassrush are releasing the first teaser from the forthcoming compilation with 5 brand new tracks from some of the scene’s best and brightest.
First up is a track from Viper’s most mysterious signing, Giganti. Known for his hard-hitting, heavy basses and unparalleled energy, ‘MAD’ is the perfect introduction to the project, delivering a charming intro before dropping into high-octane chaos in true Giganti fashion.
Next up is ‘Run & Hide’ from CLB who deliver a murky two-stepper that is simple yet totally heinous with a vibrant edge. The compilation also features a remix of Matrix & Futurebound’s iconic single ‘Follow Me’ ft Ayak, taken from last year’s Mystery Machine LP, courtesy of Las Vegas based duo Blacklab. Their remix adds charming, bouncy bass alongside the catchy vocals of the original, transforming the record into a buoyant dancefloor masterpiece.
Bassrush 4.0 also features a new track from New York based Dj Empress by way of ‘Future’. As the name might suggest, this track creates a futuristic atmosphere right from the start while still paying tribute to the old school sounds of the genre – this is classic drum & bass at its finest. Last but not least, Austrian duo Dossa & Locuzzed follow hot on the heels of their recent album with new single ‘Bounce’, a hearty dose of their signature funky DnB sound that has long made them a favourite on the label.
With 5 completely different tracks celebrating the diversity of the genre and the people behind it, this collaboration between two of the biggest brands in bass music is certainly one for the books – keep an eye out for the second sampler before the release of the full compilation on April 3rd.
