"As a mashup between Gqom styles of South Africa and the futuristic Dancehall of Jamaica the Bumaye remix video takes place between the Rastafarian Dancehalls of Cape Town South Africa and the taxi ranks and salons of Bellville and Woodstock where the Pan-African nature of South Africa and the Gqom sounds are present. Capturing the vibrant and diverse culture of these spaces the crew decided to take dancers from different styles and subcultures for the video in this way showing the evolution of the style and remix culture in Gqom and Dancehall in Cape Town. Showing a different side to the city than normally seen. Taking reference from Nollywood aesthetics and analog video effects the video is also a blending of old and new, the spiritual and club space. The main aim being to highlight the talent, fashion, beauty and communities in Cape Town our hometown.
