Summer has always been Hova season. Four days after the 19th anniversary of 'Reasonable Doubt,' and with a new project scheduled to drop tomorrow, now seems an appropriate moment to celebrate JAY-Z.
Since his first appearance on Jaz-O’s “The Originators” in 1990, Shawn Carter has soared to worldwide fame, coming out of Brooklyn’s Marcy Projects to make a massive name for himself as both a rapper and businessman.. He has released twelve solo studio albums, and three collaborative albums. He founded Roc-A-Fella records in 1996, which became enormously successful, signing artists such as Cam’ron, Kanye West, and Jadakiss. Jay has expanded into other businesses as well, from sports to fashion, to his 40/40 Clubs in New York and Atlanta. He married superstar BeyoncĂ© in 2008, and the two have amassed a combined net worth of more than $1 billion—not to mention three kids…and 43 Grammys.
The secret to his success? He’s focused, man! And not just on lyrics. Whether or not the illuminati talk is real, Jay has been extraordinarily focused on numbers throughout his career. And we’re not just talking about all the “4” stuff between him and BeyoncĂ©. Hov’s got “22 Two’s,” “A Million and One Questions,” and “99 Problems” (but a bitch ain’t one). Six of his albums have numbers in their titles, if you count soon-to-be-released '4:44.' Like any successful hustler, he understands the importance of math.
With '4:44' about to drop, MASS APPEAL is hitting you with another round of “By the Numbers,” the JAY-Z edition.
