Utrecht based producer Tomas Roels (better known as TMSV) has been steadily rising through the Dubstep ranks in the past four years, and has firmly carved out a signature sound for himself drawing influence from Dub, Jungle and beyond. Followers of Artikal Music UK will of course be familiar with this exciting producer’s debut label release ‘Haze’ and the equally massive ‘Haze VIP’. The tail end of 2014 saw his track ’Scorpion’ featured on Artikal’s hugely popular Compilation, gaining plays from the likes of Nomine, Roska, Matty G and District; firmly establishing his name among the new wave of producers shaping the future of Dubstep. Following on from the success of 2014, Artikal Music UK is proud to present TMSV’s brand new EP ‘Head For Home’, consisting of five diverse and creative tracks that have been gathering support from Dubstep heavyweights such as Youngsta, Thelem, The Others, and of course Artikal head honcho J:Kenzo. First up is the mighty and highly sought-after ‘Jackhammer’, with its earth-shattering sub-bass and stomping beats, eerie synths and shuffling percussion. This track unmistakably has TMSV’s sound stamped all over it, and has been causing devastation across dance floors in recent months. Following on from this, ‘Guillotine’ sets a moody and mysterious scene within the intro, before effortlessly rolling and evolving upon stomping tribal beats reminiscent of vintage Digital Mystikz. The heaviness doesn’t stop there, as ‘Elegy’ takes no prisoners once again, with its gigantic sub-bass laced over hypnotic, hard hitting drums; this track’s guaranteed to bring any dance floor to submission. TMSV shows his diversity on the spaced out ‘Fire Dub’, that once again revisits his love of Dub with a chunky bassline, amongst luscious dub-wise snares and delays - pure meditation vibes. Bringing things to a close is the stunning title track ‘Head For Home’, once again showing his diversity. This halftime juggernaut, with its massive electronic brass stabs over a loose half time beat, and soulful warm Vangelis-esque pads and synth lines, is an epic ending to this outstanding project. It’s easy to see why TMSV has been causing waves within the bass music community as of late, and ‘Head For Home’ is yet another highly anticipated release from the Dutchman. With more music in the pipeline for 2015, ranging across a number of different tempos, there is no sign of this producer slowing down.
