Caspa's single ' Mad Man' featuring Riko is out!!!!!!!!! This track originally featured on Dub Police's massive Past Present Future compilation, and has now been released as part of an EP including a remix from J:Kenzo, and instrumental/acappella versions.
The remix competition through UKF has now ended, gaining nearly 300 entries!!!!!
Dub Police are proud to present ‘Mad Man’, a release that truly taps into the deepest heritage
of UK bass culture. Caspa’s new material features one of London’s most lyrically chiselled MCs
in prize fighting mode… And it brings us right back to the scene’s original roots when grime
and Dubstep were deep seeds planted together to grow vastly different trees.
This collaboration between the pioneering producer and Roll Deep affiliate debuted on Dub
Police’s ‘Past Present Future’ album. It turned heads instantly: Riko’s sharp-tongued venom,
Caspa’s thick, lava-like bass, anchor-like kicks, the graveyard drama intro: it ties together
everything we’ve ever loved about both Dubstep and Grime in a timeless, fearless fashion. No
unnecessary over-production, no extremities: just a thunderous, sub-surged stepper that
snarls with Riko’s distinctive, aggy deftness.
J:Kenzo was the perfect man for the remix fix. Having supported the original, he understood
the track implicitly and knew how to pay respect to Caspa’s creation while making it his own.
Retaining the pranged sensations of the original intro, the Tempa tearaway subverts the vibe
with his signature deep, spacious twists and smoky undertones, stretching the bass and
stripping the beats back to a mean, lean swing.
To give both sides to this unique collaboration their own leases of life, both the instrumental
and Riko’s acappella are also included in this heavyweight release. The complete package, no
sonic stone has been left unturned.
We said, we mean it: ‘Mad Man’ taps into the deepest heritage of UK bass culture. And it does
so while staring fiercely into the future. Don’t sleep on it.
